Before you calculate

How Rippling Pricing Works

Understanding Rippling’s modular pricing model helps you build an accurate estimate.

1

Core HR is mandatory

Every customer pays $8/employee/month for the base platform. This includes employee records, org chart, workflows, document management, and e-signatures. You cannot use Rippling without it.

2

Add modules a la carte

Payroll, benefits, time tracking, IT management, and finance tools are all separate add-ons. Each runs $6-$8/employee/month. You only pay for what you use.

3

Pricing scales with headcount

Your bill is (per-employee cost) x (number of employees) x (number of modules). There are no published volume discounts under 200 employees.

4

Annual billing saves 15-20%

Rippling strongly prefers annual contracts. Monthly billing is available but carries a 15-20% premium. Most customers sign annual agreements.

Getting the Best Price

1

Start with fewer modules

Begin with Core HR and Payroll. Add modules as you need them. This keeps your initial contract smaller and gives you leverage to negotiate better rates when you expand.

2

Always choose annual billing

The 15-20% monthly premium adds up fast. For a 50-person company paying $30/ee/mo, annual billing saves $2,700-$3,600 per year compared to monthly.

3

Get competing quotes before you talk to Rippling

Request quotes from Gusto, BambooHR, and Justworks first. Rippling's sales team has pricing flexibility when they know you're comparing options. Read our full negotiation guide for more tactics.

4

Ask about the startup programme

If your company is under 50 employees and backed by a known VC, Rippling offers discounted rates through their startup programme. Ask your sales rep directly.

5

Negotiate implementation fees to zero

For contracts over $50k/year, implementation should be free. For smaller contracts, push for at least a 50% reduction. Self-serve implementation is always free.

Calculator FAQ

How accurate is this Rippling pricing calculator?
Our estimates are based on published per-module pricing, G2 reviews, and vendor documentation. Actual Rippling quotes may differ by 10-20% depending on your negotiation, contract length, and company size. Use this calculator as a starting point before requesting an official quote.
Does Rippling charge differently for annual vs monthly billing?
Yes. Monthly billing carries a 15-20% premium over annual billing. Our calculator applies a 17.5% uplift for monthly billing, which matches what most customers report. Annual contracts are strongly preferred by Rippling's sales team.
What modules does every Rippling customer need?
Core HR ($8/employee/month) is required for every Rippling customer. It includes employee records, org chart, workflows, document management, and e-signatures. Every other module is optional and priced separately.
Can I remove modules after signing up?
Technically yes, but Rippling uses annual contracts. Removing modules mid-contract typically takes effect at renewal. You cannot reduce your bill mid-term without negotiating with your account manager.
Why does Rippling not show pricing on their website?
Rippling uses a sales-led pricing model. They tailor quotes based on company size, modules selected, contract length, and competitive pressure. This lets them offer discounts to win deals while charging more to customers who don't negotiate.
